  • Assessment: assessment is by variety of instruments such as coursework translation class tests

Course Overview

This level forces on the main chrematistics of the legal language and the mechanism applied to write an appropriate legal sentence. Students will be provided with fundamental legal terms and vocabulary.

The course emphasizes on the fundamentals of legal transition including word selections, sentence structure and proper organization of materials.

Learning objectives:

  • Learners will understand the reason for using legal styles in the courses of translating legal document.
  • Learners will be provided with practical guidelines and established rules of translating legal documents, and will be capable of translating legal texts with ease.

Content and Structure.

LEVEL I

This level provides learners with:
A historical background of the legal writing and its developments over time. This level further describes the main characteristics of legal language and the mechanisms applied to write an appropriate legal sentence. This level, moreover, emphasizes the fundamentals of legal translation including word selection, sentence structure and proper organization of materials.

Learners will understand the reason for using legal styles in the course of translating legal documents. Learners will further be provided with practical guidelines and established rules of translating legal documents, and will be capable of translating legal texts with ease.

LEVEL II

This level provides learners with:
A wide range of legal terms that are used in the various fields of Law. Learners will be able to understand the exact meaning of each legal term and how to use it in the right place. Learners will gain practical experience in translating a variety of contracts, legal opinions, litigation reports, correspondence and court documents into both Arabic and English languages.

  • Sophisticated Small Size Contracts
  • Sophisticated Medium Size Contracts
  • Sophisticated Medium Sized Legal Opinion

  • Sophisticated Medium Sized Notice of Process
  • Sophisticated Selected parts of FEDIC Contracts
  • Sophisticated Law Provisions

LEVEL III

This level provides learners with:
This level shows how to use the legal writing mechanisms and legal terms in order to translate large sized legal documents. Learners will be extensively trained in order to be capable of drafting and translating legal documents. This level provides a variety of legal documents that will be translated by the learners into both Arabic and English languages. Learners will, through practice, be able to translate any and all legal documents with ease.

  • Sophisticated Large sized Correspondences
  • Sophisticated Large Sized Contracts
  • Sophisticated Large Sized Legal Opinion
  • Sophisticated Large Sized Court Judgment
  • Sophisticated Large  Sized Agreement

LEVEL IV

This level provides learners with:
This level shows how to use the legal writing mechanisms and legal terms in order to translate sophisticated legal documents. Learners will be extensively trained in order to be capable of translating sophisticated legal documents. This level provides a variety of legal documents that will be translated by the learners into both Arabic and English languages. Learners will, through practice, be able to translate highly specialized legal documents with ease.
